Mike Blackwell – Director (President)
“Mike Blackwell’s radio career began in 1991 as the play-by-play voice of the Bangs Dragons and the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets. His work at Sun Radio began in 2011, when he became the voice of the Wimberley Texans. He is currently color analyst for the Dripping Springs Tigers. He has broadcasted football, basketball and baseball, and was co-host of a morning drive-time radio show in Brownwood for 7 years. A graduate of the University of Texas, Mike’s “real job” is Video/Audio Director at the Texas House of Representatives, where he has been since 2010. He lives in Kyle with his wife, Christina, and stepson Skyler. He is the father of 6.”
Angie Lassetter – Director
“Angie is the Artistic Director at EmilyAnn theatre. She loves acting, directing, singing, writing plays, performing in bands and living the dream. Some of her favorite shows that she has directed are Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof and the annual Christmas shows at EmilyAnn’s Trail of Lights. Angie has taught language arts, music, and theatre in and around the Wimberley Valley for over 30 years. One of her favorite past times is going to theme parks and riding thrill rides with her family.”
Richard Newsum – Director
“Richard Newsum has been a resident of Wimberley for the past 20 years. After finishing his studies at the University of Houston, he began a 40 year career in the sales and marketing of industrial metals and polymers with his last position as Vice President of Business Development for a Michigan based extruder. Over the years, he has served on several boards including the Wimberley Lions Club, Mountain Crest Community Association, Unity Church of Wimberley and The International Association of Plastics Distributors where he also served as Chair of the Manufacturer’s Common Interest Group. During his tenure with the Lions Club, he served as club president for the 2018-19 Lion year and as scholarship administrator from 2012 to 2021. Richard and his wife Jean have been married 55 years and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren.”
